1MillionDevices Gives Hope To Children With Special Needs

On 20th October 2021, 1MillionDevices distributed a Samsung Tablet each to two children with special needs from the B40 community. Manisha, an 8-year-old girl studying in SK Sri Kelana and Justin, a 12-year-old boy studying in SK Taman Midah 2, both have Down Sydrome, which causes physical and mental developmental delays and disabilities.    These children were identified through Persatuan Kebajikan Anak-Anak Istimewa Selangor (ORKIDS), an NGO and school for children with Down’s Syndrome. Miss Doris, their headmistress,  shared with us that it was a crucial time for the children to receive the devices as they were starting to improve and understand their classes better.     Prior to this, both Manisha and Justin were attending online classes using their parents’ smartphone. It was a grave inconvenience due to the size of the screen and the unsuitability of the device for such purposes. Both children found it difficult to focus on their online classes. With the new Samsung tablet with keyboard attachment, the parents strongly believe their children will be able to follow and benefit from their online classes with ease.     1MillionDevices is glad to help children like Manisha and Justin gain equal access to education. With the constant need to help children living under digital poverty, we need all the help we can get!     You can do your part to break this digital divide. Visit 1MillionDevices.
